The White House is responding to the growing concerns about President Donald Trump’s health amid the coronavirus outbreak.

After Trump’s briefing on Monday, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham issued a press release.

She wrote, “The President has not received COVID-19 testing because he has neither had prolonged close contact with any known confirmed COVID-19 patients nor does he have any symptoms. President Trump remains in excellent health, and his physician will continue to closely monitor him.”

She continued with a reminder about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, “Per current CDC guidelines, medical professionals should base testing decisions on patient symptoms and exposure history.”

The latest news comes after a White House briefing that took place on Monday. The briefing was scheduled to address the coronavirus outbreak and the measures being taken to counter the virus. However, Trump was scrutinized after leaving a coronavirus briefing without answering questions about his health.

According to The Hill, Trump has come in contact with at least three people who have opted to self-quarantine. Those people did so after coming in contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus after attending the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

After Trump walked away during the coronavirus briefing, Vice President Mike Pence stepped to the podium. He attempted to offer a response to the main question: has Trump been tested for the coronavirus?

Pence’s response was similar to the White House response.

“Let me be sure to get you an answer to that. I honestly don’t know the answer to the question,” Pence said.

Despite the growing concerns, Trump has also declared some of the reports to be “fake news.” As of Monday night, there were five coronavirus cases confirmed in Washington, D.C.
