Vice President Kamala Harris appeared confused as she looked to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis when asked about inflation and gas prices in the United States.

During a press conference with Iohannis, a reporter asked Harris, “How long should Americans expect — how long should we be bracing for — this historic inflation and some unprecedented gas prices?”

Harris immediately looked to Iohannis to which he pointed back at her to take the question. She paused for a moment and responded, “In terms of the discussions that the president Iohannis and I had, they ranged in subject including the issue of the Black Sea and I’ll let him explain in more detail as he would like.”

She continued, “We are, again, fully aware and apprised because we are in constant communications with the president, with his administration here about the concerns that they have about the entire region and frankly the vulnerability. All you have to do is look at the map.”

The vice president’s seemingly awkward moment comes just one day after she gave an awkward response to a question about Ukrainian refugees, as IJR reported.

She received criticism for her response, including from the former press secretary to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Iuliia Mendel said in a since-deleted tweet, “It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency.”

During an appearance on CNN, Mendel was asked about why she thought that, as IJR reported.

“I deleted that tweet because I was explained that…Kamala Harris had this particularly tough communication when she feels uncomfortable,” Mendel said.

She added, “But for us Ukrainians, it was really a very bad experience to see this type of reaction, a laugh, when we are listening about one of the biggest tragedies of Ukraine right now.”

Mendel suggested even if Harris’ “communication was somehow inappropriate, probably her actions make more sense, show more than some of her communication behaviors.”
