Fox News’ Chris Wallace is praising former First Lady Michelle Obama after she came out scorching President Donald Trump during the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

“It was a heck of a contribution,” Wallace said of the former first lady’s speech after his co-anchor Dana Perino also lauded Obama.

“You got the sense when you talk about authenticity, she has it in spades. She has that voice, she has clarity, and she knows what she is out there wanting to do,” Perino said, adding, “I think that the DNC if they look over the course of the night, the first virtual convention of our history, I think they would say that Michelle Obama stuck the landing.”

Wallace then said, “She really flayed, sliced and diced Donald Trump talking about the chaos and confusion and lack of empathy, especially coming from this president and this White House, spoke more about the deficits of Donald Trump than the pluses of Joe Biden, but did talk about especially, not so much policies, but especially his empathy and what he has been through and his care for average Americans.”

During her virtual convention speech, the former first lady said, “If you think things cannot possibly get worse, trust me, they can; and they will if we don’t make a change in this election,” as IJR reported.

Obama also said during her 18-minute long speech:

“Let me be as honest and clear as I possibly can. Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country.”

She also spoke about voting, “Because right now, folks who know they cannot win fair and square at the ballot box are doing everything they can to stop us from voting. They’re closing down polling places in minority neighborhoods. They’re purging voter rolls. They’re sending people out to intimidate voters, and they’re lying about the security of our ballots.”

Trump, however, did not hold back in responding.

He wrote on Twitter early Tuesday, “Somebody please explain to [Michelle Obama] that Donald J. Trump would not be here, in the beautiful White House, if it weren’t for the job done by your husband, Barack Obama.”

“Biden was merely an afterthought, a good reason for that very late & unenthusiastic endorsement,” he added.

….My Administration and I built the greatest economy in history, of any country, turned it off, saved millions of lives, and now am building an even greater economy than it was before. Jobs are flowing, NASDAQ is already at a record high, the rest to follow. Sit back & watch!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 18, 2020

He continued in a follow-up tweet, “Sit back [and] watch!”
