Fox News host Tucker Carlson claims a Black Capitol Police Officer who was attacked on January 6 at the U.S. Capitol is an “angry left-wing political activist.”

Carlson noted on Wednesday night that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will call Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn to testify before a special House panel on the attack next week.

“Dunn will pretend to speak for the country’s law enforcement community. But it turns out Dunn has very little in common with your average cop,” Carlson said.

He added, “Dunn is an angry left-wing political activist whose social media feeds are full of praise, not coincidentally, for Nancy Pelosi.”

Carlson showed a photo of Dunn and Pelosi together. He then read a tweet from Dunn saying, “Racism is so American, that when you protest it, people think you are protesting America!”

The Fox News host continued, “Harry Dunn, ladies, and gentlemen. Just another fact-based witness to the insurrection.”

The legal team representing Dunn fired back at Carlson for his remarks.

“Our client has served 13 years in law enforcement and, on January 6, 2021, fought against an insurrectionist violent crowd — no doubt many of them Carlson’s supporters — to protect the lives of our elected officials, including Vice President Pence,” the attorneys wrote.

The statement continued, “Officer Dunn, who would lay down his life to protect a Member of Congress, regardless of being a Republican or Democrat, will testify next Tuesday before the House Select Committee investigating the events of the insurrection. Frankly, the last thing Carlson wants is for the truth to emerge of what happened that day and why.”

The attorneys also pointed out Carlson has not “served a day in uniform, whether military or law enforcement.”
