Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson believes the front-runners for the two major parties’ presidential nominations are too old.

Carlson sat down for an interview with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and ventured into the issue of the 2024 presidential election.

Portnoy argued former President Donald Trump should have participated in the first Republican presidential primary debate of the cycle — even if it was a good move for him politically.

Carlson, who released an interview with Trump minutes before the debate began, chimed in, “I kind of agree. I like the debates personally. I mean, how else are people going to decide?”

“The problem is that the news companies that host the debates are so rotten and corrupt, and everybody knows it,” he added.

Watch the video below:

Tucker Carlson agrees with Dave Portnoy that Trump is too old to hold office. He also agreed that Trump should have participated in the primary debate.

Portnoy: "Both Trump and Biden are too old."

Carlson then asked Portnoy if he believed President Joe Biden would be the Democratic nominee.

“I… don’t know. I’m not a political person,” Portnoy responded.

He added, “I feel like there’s been a shift where internally maybe the Democrats don’t think he can win and they’re setting the stage to choose someone else. I think it’s crazy if he’s — I mean, to be honest, I think both Trump and Biden are too old. I don’t think you should be able to be that old and be president.”

Carlson was seen shaking his head approvingly while Portnoy spoke.

He leaned forward and said, “I agree 100%.”

Biden is currently 80 and would be 82 at the beginning of a potential second term. Meanwhile, Trump is 77 and would be 78 at the start of his term if he were to win the 2024 election.

Correction [9/1/23, 2:44 p.m. ET]: Previously, this story inaccurately stated Biden would be 82 at the beginning of a first term. He would be 82 at the start of a second term.
