President Donald Trump is attempting to clarify comments he made during the first presidential debate on Tuesday night regarding a far-right group called the Proud Boys.

While he was leaving the White House on Wednesday, Trump was asked by a reporter about his advice to the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”

He seemed to have no idea about the group the reporter was talking about.

“I don’t know who the Proud Boys are. I mean you’ll have to give me a definition because I really don’t know who they are,” Trump said.

He added, “I can only say they have to stand down, let law enforcement do their work. Law enforcement will do the work more and more as people see how bad this radical liberal Democrat movement is and how weak. The law enforcement’s going to come back stronger and stronger.”

Trump explained it does not matter which group it is, they all have to let law enforcement “do the work.”

The president turned his attention toward the anti-fascist group Antifa and why he believes Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has failed to denounce their actions.

“Antifa is a real problem because the problem is on the left and Biden refuses to talk about it. He refuses to issue the words ‘law’ and ‘order.’ You saw that last night when he choked up,” Trump said.

He continued, “He can’t say the words because he’ll lose the rest of the left. So, he’s got to condemn Antifa. Antifa’s a really bad group.”

Another reporter pressed Trump on whether he welcomes support from white supremacists.

He insisted he has “always” denounced any form of white supremacy.

Trump reiterated Biden has to speak out against Antifa.

Biden condemned Antifa during an interview with WGAL’s Barbara Barr this month, as IJR previously reported.

“Yes I do… violence, no matter who it is,” Biden said.
