Former President Donald Trump is stating he would call a CPAC straw poll “fake” if it did not result in him as the winner.
“By the way, you have a poll coming out,” Trump said during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Sunday in Dallas, Texas. “I want to know what it is. You know they do that straw poll, right?”
He then added, “Now, if it’s bad, I just say it’s fake. If it’s good, I say that’s the most accurate poll, perhaps ever.” The crowd could be heard laughing in response to his remarks.

Trump won the CPAC straw poll with 70% of Republicans saying they would vote for him in the 2024 Republican primary if it “were held today.”
Following Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) received 21%.
Those who received 1% include Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

In a similar poll that did not include Trump on the ballot, DeSantis garnered 68%, with Pompeo receiving 5% and Donald Trump Jr. receiving 4%.
