Former President Donald Trump is sending a warning to House Republicans: Impeach President Joe Biden or fade away politically.

In a post on Truth Social Sunday night, he wrote, “The Republicans in Congress, though well meaning, keep talking about an Impeachment ‘Inquiry’ on Crooked Joe Biden.”

“Look, the guy got bribed, he paid people off, and he wouldn’t give One Billion Dollars to Ukraine unless they ‘got rid of the Prosecutor.’ Biden is a Stone Cold Crook-You don’t need a long INQUIRY to prove it, it’s already proven,” he claimed.

Finally, Trump added, “These lowlifes Impeached me TWICE (I WON!), and Indicted me FOUR TIMES – For NOTHING! Either IMPEACH the BUM, or fade into OBLIVION. THEY DID IT TO US!”

Despite Trump’s claim, there is simply no evidence Biden received bribes or money from his family’s business deals.

There is evidence of the Biden family members making money from foreign deals, but nothing that links that money to the president.

And the appearance of shady deals and corruption is not by itself evidence of corruption.

You can think, “Come on, how could none of that money have gone to Joe Biden while he was vice president?”

But unless you see bank transfers, or emails, or anything to confirm money actually went to Joe Biden, you do not have evidence.

Of course, impeachment is not really a legal proceeding. Congress does not need to prove someone committed a crime beyond a shadow of a doubt.

And it is up to the lawmakers to determine whether the evidence they have amounts to an impeachable offense as laid out by the Constitution.

But Republicans should be cautious about moving forward with impeachment.

If they move forward with a frivolous impeachment without convincing evidence against Biden, they very well could end up fading “into oblivion” in the 2024 election.
