With the current president sitting out of the traditional Super Bowl interview, his predecessor is offering to “replace” him.

On Sunday, it was reported President Joe Biden would not sit for pre-game interview.

And former President Donald Trump suggested it was a “great decision,” then offered to do an interview.

“Crooked Joe Biden has just announced that he will not be doing the big Super Bowl Interview. A great decision, he can’t put two sentences together,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added, “I WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPLACE HIM – would be ‘RATINGS GOLD!’”

White House spokesman Ben LaBolt told Variety about the decision to turn down the interview, “We hope viewers enjoy watching what they tuned in for – the game.”

USA Today notes the president has given two pre-Super Bowl interviews during his time in office.

And this is not the first year he will forgo the tradition.

In 2023, there was some confusion around whether Biden would sit for an interview.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre initially said Biden was looking forward to an interview, but that the network canceled it.

However, Fox Corp. later said there had been some “initial confusion,” and its Fox Soul service was looking forward to interviewing the president.

Still, a White House spokesperson insisted, “As we said earlier, we had arranged an interview with Fox Sports Host Mike Hill & Vivica A. Fox with the president ahead of the Super Bowl and Fox Corp had the interview cancelled.”

“Fox has since put out a statement indicating the interview was rescheduled, which is inaccurate,” they added.
