The coronavirus outbreak does not seem to be coming to an end anytime soon, and neither are the guidelines to help prevent the spread of it.

President Donald Trump announced the administration will be extending the guidelines.

“We will be extending our guidelines to April 30, to slow the spread,” Trump said.

Trump reported that the worst is yet to come with the death rates.

“The peak in death rate is likely to hit in two weeks,” Trump said, adding, “Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory is won. That would be the greatest loss of all.”

He proceeded to encourage Americans to follow the guidelines.

Trump’s announcement comes shortly after he reiterated his hope of opening the country and economy back up by Easter, as IJR previously reported.

“I would love to have that, it’s such an important day for other reasons but I’ll make it an important day for this too. I would love to have the country opened up and just rearing to go by Easter,” Trump said.

He was asked if it was a misstep to hope to reopen by Easter.

“That was just an aspiration,” Trump said.

Trump considered scaling back closures just as the coronavirus outbreak began to worsen, as IJR previously reported.

“America will again and soon be open for business,” Trump said, continuing, “We are not going to let it turn into a long-lasting financial problem.”

The United States has become home to the most coronavirus cases across the globe.

Total confirmed cases in the United States have reached 139,675 with 2,436 total deaths, as of Sunday evening according to reports.

Trump reported there will be a statement issued on Tuesday on coronavirus findings and data as well as the reasons behind the guidelines being put into place.
