Former President Donald Trump announced his support of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Oh.) for Speaker of the House.

He posted the endorsement to Truth Social late Thursday night, stating, “Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District.”

He noted Jordan is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom when Trump was in office, and is a sportsman with a memorable college wrestling record.

Trump added, “He is STRONG on Crime, Borders, our Military/Vets, & 2nd Amendment.”

“Jim, his wife, Polly, & family are outstanding – He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!” he concluded.

On Wednesday, Jordan announced his bid for the Speaker position in a press release. He said, “Far-left progressive policies are destroying our communities, our security, and our future.”

“We have soaring crime across the country. We have an administration with open-border policies that have caused chaos and left our country vulnerable,” he said.

Jordan also noted, “We’ve seen federal agencies turned on the American people silencing speech online, targeting parents at school board meetings, and flagging pro-life Catholics as potential threats and we’ve witnessed blatant double standards in federal law enforcement.”

“We continue to spend too much money and Americans are suffering under President Biden’s economy,” he added.

He noted his successes and missions and also wrote, “Now is the time for our Republican conference to come together to keep our promises to Americans.”

“We can focus on the changes that improve the country and unite us in offering real solutions,” he continued.

Jordan concluded, “I respectfully ask for your support for Speaker of the House of Representatives.”
