Former President Donald Trump is shooting down the claim he was depressed and not eating after he left office.

In a post on Truth Social on Monday morning, Trump responded to the claim, which was made by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) in her new book “Oath and Honor.”

“Crazy Liz Cheney, who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome at a level rarely seen before, writes in her boring new book that Keven McCarthy said he came to Mar-a-Lago after the RIGGED election because, ‘the former president was depressed and not eating,'” the former president wrote on Truth Social.

He went on:

“That statement is not true. I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY, and it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much. But that’s not why Keven McCarthy was there. He was at Mar-a-Lago to get my support, and to bring the Republican Party together – Only good intentions.”

Finally, Trump took a jab at Cheney as he said, “Liz Cheney, on the other hand, went on to lose her seat in Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressperson in the history of the U.S. She then worked with others on the J6 Committee to delete and destroy the evidence and findings of the committee.”

The Washington Post reports Cheney’s primary defeat “might be the biggest incumbent primary loss of the 21st century.”

In her book, the former congresswoman and vocal Trump critic alleged former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) traveled to Mar-a-Lago after Jan. 6.

When a picture emerged of the two men standing together, Cheney shared she believed it was fake as she wrote, “Not even Kevin McCarthy could be this craven, I thought. I was wrong.”

Cheney said she confronted McCarthy and asked him about the trip, “Mar-a-Lago? What the hell?”

“They’re really worried,” the California congressman reportedly responded, adding, “Trump’s not eating, so they asked me to come see him.”

Cheney then asked, “You went to Mar-a-Lago because Trump’s not eating?”

“Yeah, he’s really depressed,” McCarthy reportedly answered.
