The White House is announcing changes to President Donald Trump’s weekend schedule confirming his trip to New Jersey has been canceled.

Trump was expected to depart Washington, D.C., for his Bedminster, N,J., property on Friday and return to the White House on Sunday. However, White House officials have noted plans to scrap the trip.

According to The Hill, Trump’s visits to Bedminster are relatively private but he typically plays golf while there. The White House has offered no specific reason for the cancellation.

When asked if the cancellation was due to travel restrictions in New Jersey, White House spokesman Judd Deere said, “It has nothing to do with that,” according to the White House pool report.

The abrupt change in plans comes just one day after the White House confirmed the president would not be adhering to the state’s travel advisory amid the uptick in coronavirus cases.

On Thursday, Deere released a statement explaining the decision while insisting, “The president of the United States is not a civilian,” as previously reported on IJR.

However, it is important to note that the president is, in fact, a civilian.

In an effort to continue mitigation effective efforts, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) has joined forces with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) to implement a travel advisory.

People traveling from areas of the U.S. “where 10% of those tested for COVID-19 came up positive on a seven day rolling average, or a state where 10 per 100,000 on a seven-day rolling average” would be required to quarantine for 14 days.

As of Friday afternoon, there are over 2.5 million confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States as over 30 states are seeing are rise in infection rates.
