President Donald Trump says former Vice President Joe Biden should respond to an allegation that he sexually assaulted a Senate staffer in 1993.

“I don’t know anything about it,” Trump said while speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday. “I think he should respond, you know, it could be false accusations. I know all about false accusations. I’ve been falsely charged numerous times.”

Trump continued to reference the charges of sexual assault made against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, “He was falsely charged, what happened with him was an absolute disgrace to our country.”

During his 2018 confirmation process, Kavanaugh faced several allegations of sexual assault dating back decades. However, an investigation by the FBI was unable to corroborate the allegations.

Biden has been accused by a former member of his Senate staff, Tara Reade, of sexually assaulting her, as IJR reported.

Biden’s campaign has denied the allegations, “Such claims should also be diligently reviewed by an independent press. What is clear about this claim: it is untrue.”

However, more than a month after Reade first made her sexual assault allegation public, many have noted that Biden has not been asked about accusation during an interview.

But that will soon change, Biden is expected to address Reade’s allegation during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday.

In recent days, several prominent Democratic figures have been asked about Reade’s allegation, and they have defended the vice president and maintained that the accusation is false, as IJR reported.

However, their defense of Biden has led to cries of a double-standard compared to the treatment Kavanaugh received during his confirmation.
