Things got a little heated in the first presidential debate after former Vice President Joe Biden (D) refused to answer whether or not he would support packing the Supreme Court if he won the election.

Biden was asked if he would answer if he supports ending the Senate filibuster or adding more justices to the Supreme Court, he said, “Whatever position I take in that, that will become the issue.”

“The American people should speak. You should go out and vote. You’re in voting now. Vote and let your senators know how strongly you feel. Vote now. Make sure you, in fact, let people know,” Biden continued.

As Biden spoke, President Donald Trump spoke over him and asked, “Are you going to pack the court?”

Trump’s comments about packing the court refer to the idea of passing legislation that would increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court.

Biden responded, “I’m not going to answer that question.”

Trump continued to press Biden and asked who he would nominate to the Supreme Court.

His interruptions led Biden to shoot back, “Will you shut up, man?”

He added another quip, “This is so unpresidential.”

Biden has previously resisted answering questions about whether or not he would support ending the filibuster or adding justices to the Supreme Court.

On Sunday, he was asked if he would support such a move, and he responded, “I know you’re gonna be upset with my answer, but what I’m not going to do is play the Trump game, which is a good game he plays, take your eye off the issue before us.”

“If I were to say yes or no to that, that becomes a big issue. That’s the headline here,” he added.
