Former President Donald Trump is asking for “just a mention please” when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

“Isn’t it incredible that because of the vaccines, which I and my Administration came up with years ahead of schedule (despite the fact that everybody, including Fauci, said would never happen), that we no longer need masks, and yet our names are not even mentioned in what everybody is calling the modern day miracle of the vaccines?” Trump said in a statement.

He claimed without the vaccines “this world would have been in for another 1917 Spanish Flu, where up to 100 million people died.”

Trump continued, “Because of the vaccines we pushed and developed in record time, nothing like that will be even close to happening. Just a mention please! The Biden Administration had zero to do with it. All they did was continue our plan of distribution, which was working well right from the beginning!”

President Joe Biden touted the success of the nation’s vaccination efforts on Thursday. Just hours after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced fully vaccinated people are no longer required to wear masks indoors or outdoors, Biden called it “a great day for America.”

He added, “It’s been made possible by the extraordinary success we’ve had in vaccinating so many Americans so quickly.”

Biden acknowledged it is going to take some time before everyone is vaccinated.

“It’s going to take a little more time for everyone who wants to get vaccinated to get their shots. So all of us, let’s be patient with one another,” Biden said.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky suggested Americans have “longed for this moment, when we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”

She called it “an exciting and powerful moment,” adding, “It could only happen because of the work of so many who made sure we have the rapid administration of three safe and effective vaccines.”
