With the bans on former President Donald Trump from major social media platforms being lifted, the question is whether he will start using them again.

Trump sat down for an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity that aired on Monday night – the first time he appeared on the network since November.

“I use Truth (Social), although they want me back on Twitter desperately,” he told Hannity.

When asked if he would return to Twitter, Trump said, “Well, we’ll talk about that at some point.”

“But I love Truth. I think Truth is incredible. It’s up, I think, 389%. It’s the hottest thing there is,” he added.

Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, announced earlier this year it would lift its ban on the former president on Facebook and Instagram. Earlier this month, Trump made his first post on Facebook in over two years.

Twitter owner Elon Musk also lifted his platform’s ban on Trump in November, IJR reported.

However, the former president has yet to return to the platform.

It makes sense, from a business perspective, why Trump would want to keep Truth Social as his main outlet.

Switching to Twitter and abandoning Truth Social could kind of be a sign his platform did not work out the way he hoped and may lead to its user base falling off.

He certainly has received attention from the media for his posts on his platform.

However, Forbes reported in April that Truth Social had roughly 2 million active users, which has likely grown since.

Meanwhile, Twitter said it had 237.8 million active users as of the second quarter of 2022, with 41.5 million in the U.S.

From a numbers point of view, it seems like it would be good for Trump to start using his Twitter account again. He could always use Truth Social as well, but the more outlets he has to make himself heard, the easier it will be to flood the zone with his messaging.
