President Donald Trump continued his running accusation that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is possibly on drugs, declaring “he’s taking something.”

During a phone call to “Fox & Friends” Tuesday, Trump was asked about the accusations that he has leveled against Biden.

He claimed that he noticed a sudden shift in Biden’s debate performances in the later debates saying, “[Biden] was okay, and Bernie was okay. It was an extraordinarily boring debate, but he got through it, and I said what’s the difference between now and some of those classic moments in the other debates, and something was strange, in my opinion.”

Trump added, “I won’t say what, but a lot of people think that something happened, and you just can’t do that kind of stuff.” The president also said that he thinks Biden should take a drug test and that he would be willing to take one too.

Asked by co-host Steve Doocy, “Do you think he’s taking some sort of drugs to pep him up?” Trump responded, “I do, he’s taking something. He’s taking something, you know that gives him some clarity.”

When Doocy quipped, “maybe it’s a cup of coffee?” Trump chuckled and shot back, “Yeah, maybe he had a lot of coffee. Maybe he had 15 cups of coffee.”

The president went on to mention Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), saying, “I’ll tell you what, I’ve seen him in the debate with the other people, including Kamala and nobody treated him worse than Kamala. He picked Kamala and nobody treated him worse.”

Trump has tried out a number of attack lines against Biden over the campaign but his accusations that Biden is secretly on some sort of performance enhancing substance is relatively new.

During a recent interview with Fox News, Trump said, “There’s probably, possibly drugs involved. That’s what I hear, I mean there’s possibly drugs. I don’t know how you can go from being so bad where you can’t even get out a sentence.”

Trump is still trailing Biden in the polls, though the race has tightened a bit. The RealClearPolitics average gives Biden a seven-point lead.
