Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady revealed he would prefer his son not to follow in his footsteps into a football career.

On June 2, Brady appeared on ESPN’s “NFL Live” and got candid about his son, Jack Moynahan, 15, who is currently a quarterback on his high school’s football team.

Jack’s mother is actress Bridget Moynahan. She and Brady dated several years.

In the interview, Brady shared his hopes and concerns for his son as he plays the game.

“I hope he finds the things in his life that allow him to get up every day to be internally motivated to work hard at something he loves to do,” he said.

Brady added, “I wouldn’t choose for him to (play football), because there’s too many crazy expectations that people would put on him, most of them probably very unfair, actually.”

However, he said he would support whatever path his three children chose to take. He has another son and daughter with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.

Brady also took a moment to say how grateful he is to his parents for supporting his “football journey” and said he was very lucky to find something he loved to do.

“I think that’s what we as parents should do. We should support our children’s dreams whatever they may be,” he said.

Brady added it “doesn’t need to be sports.”

“I think that’s part of being a parent, is supporting your kids’ dreams, and now that I’ve got more time on my hands, I’m very much looking forward to doing that as well,” he said.

On Feb. 1, 2022, Brady announced his retirement from football for the second time and thanked his loved ones for allowing him to live his “absolute dream,” ESPN reported.

During an episode of his Sirius XM show “Let’s Go!” in 2022, Brady spoke openly about the struggles of balancing his work and family after filing and then finalizing his divorce from model Bündchen after 13 years of marriage.

“That’s what professionals do. You focus at work when it’s time to work and then when you come home you focus on the priorities that are at home, and all you can do is the best you can do and that’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad,” he said.

He spent his first 20 seasons with the New England Patriots then played his final three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won the Super Bowl seven times.
