Singer Tim McGraw shared his thoughts on the “growing trend” involving concertgoers throwing items at fellow artists on stage.

In a recent interview with CNN, McGraw, 56, said he thinks the action is “terrible.”

“I mean, you could really injure somebody and you could miss and hit somebody in the audience and injure somebody. What happens if somebody gets hurt?” he added.

He further explained the show is ruined “for everybody” if the artist “can’t continue performing.”

McGraw, who will be going on an American tour in 2024, shared he is used to “soft goods” being thrown at him, which he stated he doesn’t have an issue with.

“And that’s fine, but don’t throw anything that’s got any heft to it that’s gonna hurt somebody,” the “Live Like You Were Dying” singer continued. “I just think that it’s just not appropriate to do. Everybody’s there to have fun and there’s just no need in any of that.”

Although he hopes “it doesn’t happen” McGraw told CNN he’s prepared and will “try to stay calm if it does.”

McGraw also opened up about his new album “Standing Room Only” and what fans can expect from the music.

“I wanted this music on this album to reflect life in general and be life-affirming and positive,” he said.

McGraw added, “I wanted the music to sort of reflect that, living the good life and being the best person that you can be and knowing we all make mistakes, but you wake up the next day and try to be a better person.”

In an interview with Esquire in 2021, McGraw spoke about the times God has helped him write his music.

“There are a handful of songs that come along where you know that when you do it, no one can hear anybody else doing it. Sometimes God just walks through the room, and you happen to be standing there,” he said.
