Former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich said Thursday on Fox News that the Democratic Party is now “paying the price” for their “lies.” Following President-elect Donald Trump’s historic win, securing both the Electoral College and the popular vote, Democrats were quick to ask how their party had lost, despite warnings from some pundits about their rhetoric. On “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Watters asked the former governor why everyone in the party seems to “hate each other.” Blagojevich said it was the party’s tendency to lie to one another. “Well, you were quoting a great Democratic president, Harry Truman. He’s the one who said, ‘If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog’. These are very different Democrats than Harry Truman,” Blagojevich said. “Harry Truman was very forthright, and he was a tough guy. Gave em hell. These Democrats are just liars. They lie.” “They lie to the American people. They lie to each other. They lie about each other. They stab each other in the back. Biden’s given that speech just a second ago. I just saw it on your screen,” Blagojevich added. “He’s talking about how he considers Kamala Harris part of his family. I mean, that’s a blatant lie. She stabbed him in the back and got him removed as the presidential candidate.” Reports of tension between Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris surfaced during his presidential bid after Biden withdrew from the race on July 21 and endorsed her. In a January interview with USA Today, the president said that while it would be “presumptuous to say” he would have won the 2024 election, he said he would have “based on the polling.” WATCH: Prior to Biden’s poor debate performance, Democrats had defended his reelection bid, despite continuous concerns from Republicans about his mental fitness. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had at one point labeled videos of Biden appearing confused or stumbling over his words as “cheap fakes” created by GOP members. Following the debate, however, Democrats began to question the president’s cognitive abilities as Biden’s poll numbers quickly declined. “They lied about his fitness for office. They lied about Kamala Harris doing french fries at McDonald’s. They lied. They can’t even give you a straight answer, Jesse, to a simple question. How do you define a woman? So their lies are coming around, and they’re now paying the price for all those lies,” Blagojevich said. “What you have now is, you have a house divided against itself. It’s because no relationship that’s predicated on lies could long endure, to paraphrase Lincoln. That’s what they’re facing,” Blagojevich said. “Now they’re blaming each other for the failures of the Biden administration. What’s interesting about that speech last night, he’s talking about the future in such a dark and pessimistic way that it never crosses his mind that if that’s the case, it’s because he’s screwed up as president for the past four years.” During Biden’s final address to the nation from the Oval Office, he talked about his administration’s work during the past four years before saying he was worried about the “rise of a tech industrial complex” and Americans “being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation.” According to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS, Biden is set to leave office with his lowest-ever approval rating, with just 36% of Americans supporting him.
