The New York Post is calling on President Donald Trump to shift his focus from his efforts to overturn the election to Georgia’s runoff races.

“Mr. President, it’s time to end this dark charade. We’re one week away from an enormously important moment for the next four years of our country,” The New York Post’s editorial board wrote in an op-ed published on Monday.

It added, “On Jan. 5, two runoff races in Georgia will determine which party will control the Senate — whether Joe Biden will have a rubber stamp or a much-needed check on his agenda.”

The Post accused Trump of being “obsessed” with Jan. 6, when Congress will certify the Electoral College vote.

It criticized Trump for cheering for an “undemocratic coup.”

The Post provided two examples of how Trump’s investigation into the election has failed, including recounts in Wisconsin and Georgia.

It called attorney Sidney Powell a “crazy person” and said Michael Flynn’s martial law suggestion is “tantamount to treason.”

“We understand, Mr. President, that you’re angry that you lost. But to continue down this road is ruinous,” the editorial board continued.

It went on, “We offer this as a newspaper that endorsed you, that supported you: If you want to cement your influence, even set the stage for a future return, you must channel your fury into something more productive.”

The editorial board reminded Trump of the consequences of a government being controlled by his “nemeses” including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

“Do you think they won’t spend the next four years torturing you with baseless hearings and investigations?” it wrote.

The Post encouraged Trump to focus on the runoff races because “securing the Senate means securing” his legacy.

“If you insist on spending your final days in office threatening to burn it all down, that will be how you are remembered. Not as a revolutionary, but as the anarchist holding the match,” the editorial board concluded.
