“The Chosen” actor Noah James revealed how filming the hit show helped him learn to surrender.

In an interview with The Christian Post, James, who plays the character of Jesus’ disciple Andrew in the series, opened up about how he learned to let go of control while enduring difficulties during filming.

“It was a really hard season to film,” he explained. “Not just the content, but just the circumstances of filming it.”

James further explained the weather during filming was “crazy hot.”

“We’re out in the sun all day, and it gets tough. It starts to wear on you,” he added.

However despite the stressful circumstances, James shared, “It’s more rewarding having gone through the difficult journey because you gave it your all, and I think something that I took away from the show last season and this season in the filming of it, as me, Noah the actor, last season I was about to go get married.”

He continued, “All the complications we had, COVID complication, the weather complications, all this stuff kept pushing the schedule back and back and back.”

“The ability to surrender was not something I came into ‘The Chosen’ with the ability to do,” he said, “So I’m learning when best to let go of things that you can’t control and surrender.

James told The Christian Post learning to let go “certainly helped me through some of the difficult moments in season four,” set to premiere exclusively in theaters on Feb. 1.

Additionally, James said, “Learning how to grow in that way and be OK with letting go is certainly a part of ‘The Chosen.'” He also credited the show’s creator, Dallas Jenkins, for encouragment to do so during an anxious time in his life.

“That’s one of the cool things about the show: each character has their own things that they’re struggling with or dealing with, and we’re watching them grow and sometimes take two steps forward, one step back, or maybe four steps back, 10 steps back, and try to find their way back to where they were and into growth. I just think that ‘The Chosen’ does a really good job of that,” he continued.
