Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is receiving support from Teen Vogue.

Columnist Jameelah Nasheed published an article on Tuesday titled, “Stacey Abrams’s Run for Georgia Governor Is Crucial to Protect Abortion Rights.”

Opening the article, Nasheed noted Abrams was praised for “empowering voters and advocating for candidates in 2020.”

She added, “Now here we are, less than two years later, and Abrams is running for governor again. This time around, the world knows her name, but the posts of support appear to be fewer and farther between.”

Pointing out that Abrams is “behind in the polls,” Nasheed continued, “But on the ground in Georgia, where I live, it’s far too quiet. Now is the time to get loud for Stacey Abrams.”

The article went on to take aim at Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) and his “reign of terror for people who want bodily autonomy, who want sensible and safe gun laws, and who want to live in a state that won’t throw away opportunities for economic growth because of its leader’s oppressive personal beliefs, it’s especially important to recognize that this election will directly impact the lives of millions of people in Georgia and beyond.”

Expressing her frustration with the state’s laws on abortion, Nasheed wrote, “I’m now terrified of pregnancy — wanted or unwanted. The thought of enduring unnecessary obstacles during pregnancy because of restrictive and inhumane laws is horrifying.”

The article then suggested that Abrams is “best for our health.”

Concluding the article, Nasheed told readers it is “time to support” Abrams.

She added, “Not just her labor. Everyone loves Black women when we are in service to you, but when Black women need you, where’s that love? Where’s that support? Show up for Stacey Abrams the way she showed up for you.”

Abrams has made it clear that if elected governor she would protect a woman’s right to choose.

In college, a friend who shared my faith challenged me to think and changed my perspective on abortion.

NPR reported over the weekend that Abrams is slightly behind Kemp in the polls.

Earlier this month, Abrams stepped off of her campaign trail after testing positive for COVID-19.

“This morning I took my daily COVID test and tested positive for COVID-19. Before my speech yesterday, I tested negative. Today I’m experiencing mild symptoms, and I’m grateful to have been vaccinated and boosted,” she tweeted at the time.
