Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) says he would consider another run for president.

During an interview with The Truth Gazette, Brilyn Hollyhand asked Cruz, “What are your thoughts on the field of potential candidates going into 2024, and would you ever consider another run for president?”

He responded, “Absolutely, in a heartbeat. You know I ran in 2016. It was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. We had a very crowded field. There were 17 candidates in the race, very strong field, and I ended up placing second.”

Cruz continued, “You know, there’s a reason historically that the runner-up is almost always the next nominee.”

The senator noted in 2016, “We raised over $92 million. That was the most money any Republican’s ever raised.”

Hollyhand said he would release the interview Friday that includes topics about Cruz’s “relationship with Trump, The Wall, Manchin, Beto, 2022, and if he would be open to being a VP nominee!”

According to the publication’s website, it was founded by Hollyhand in July 2017 “with the goal of bringing the truth of our nation’s politics in a Fake News Mainstream Media world.”

Since then, “Truth Gazette has grown from a small email newsletter to a news service with thousands of signed up subscribers.”

He has interviewed several notable people including Kayleigh McEnany, Sean Hannity, Ben Shapiro, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Ben Carson.”

Cruz dropped his presidential bid in May 2016 after a loss to former President Donald Trump in Indiana.

“We left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it everything we’ve got but the voters chose another path,” Cruz said. “So with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign.”
