Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed the Biden Administration for instructing Border Patrol agents to release more than 6,000 migrants who had illegally crossed the border.

Cruz responded to a post on X from the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), which represents Border Patrol agents, saying they had been “instructed to reward and release” more than 6,500 illegal immigrants.

“And now Biden’s solution is to keep them all in Texas,” Cruz wrote in response to the post on X.

The post from the NBPC comes after Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody released an internal Border Patrol email her office had obtained which details guidelines on releasing migrants currently held at Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) processing centers due to being at full capacity.

CBP is reportedly currently detaining almost 20,000 migrants with some Border Patrol agents encountering roughly 6,000 migrants daily.

“Biden and Mayorkas have become so brazen that they are now implementing mass-release quotas for immigrants surging into our country,” Moody wrote in a press release on Tuesday. “As a federal judge already recognized, these releases are unlawful, yet the Biden administration is ordering Border Patrol to release even more immigrants into the interior.”

Moody added that the “latest email is further proof of the disastrous cycle created by Biden’s intentional destruction of our border with Mexico.”

In August, the CBP reported arresting 91,000 migrants as part of family groups, a record number, according to The Washington Post. This exceeded a record of 84,486 migrants arrested in May 2019.

The internal watchdog for the Department of Homeland Security also found that over a 17-month period, 177,000 migrants who had been released into the United States had been lost track of, noting that addresses on file were either nonexistent or had been reportedly left blank.
