Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is blasting Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for the social media platform’s censorship of a New York Post report on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Cruz pressed Dorsey on his decision to block links to an article claiming Biden introduced his father to an executive for Ukrainian energy company Burisma while he was still vice president.

“Twitter takes the view you can censor the New York Post, you can censor Politico, presumably you can censor The New York Times or any other media outlet,” Cruz said.

He added, “Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the American people are allowed to hear, and why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic Super PAC silencing views to the contrary of your political beliefs.”

Dorsey expressed his willingness to be more transparent and argued the social media outlet is not acting as a Democratic SuperPAC.

“We’re not doing that and this is why I opened this hearing with calls for more transparency. We realize we need to earn trust more. We realize that more accountability is needed to show our intentions and to show the outcomes,” Dorsey said.

He continued, “So, I hear the concerns and acknowledge them, but we want to fix it with more transparency.”

Dorsey previously took to Twitter to admit blocking the links to the article without context was a mistake, as IJR previously reported.

“Our goal is to attempt to add context, and now we have capabilities to do that,” he tweeted.

During an interview with former Fox News anchor Eric Bolling, Trump accused Twitter of “trying to protect Biden,” as IJR previously reported.
