Radio host Charlamagne Tha God said Monday that Democrats lack moral superiority over Republicans after President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden on Sunday.

The pardon followed months of the president insisting he would not intervene after a Delaware jury convicted Hunter Biden of knowingly possessing a gun while being a drug addict and making false statements on a purchase form. Charlamagne, on “The Breakfast Club,” refuted Biden’s assertion that “Hunter was singled out,” calling the pardon an example of Democrats’ moral failings.

WATCH:

“Hunter was singled out because he broke the law. That’s number one. He was singled out because he had an illegal gun and tax evasion charges, not because he was the president’s son,” Charlamagne said. “And I honestly don’t care.”

“I just want Democrats to stop acting like they are on this moral high ground politically when they have shown us they’re not. You know, whether it’s skipping the primary process when Biden had stepped down and things like Biden pardoning his son,” he continued. “Stop acting like y’all are the pure party and Republicans aren’t. And it also shows me elected officials can do whatever they want as long as they have the political will and courage to do it.”

The president’s statement announcing the pardon included an allegation that his son was targeted in the judicial process because of their relationship.

“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong,” he wrote. “There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”

Hunter Biden originally intended to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter a diversion agreement for the felony gun charge in exchange for no jail time. However, the agreement fell apart in July after District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned an immunity provision included in the agreement.
