Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D) has officially joined Vice President Joe Biden’s (D) long list of endorsements.

“Vice President Biden is the leader America needs — a leader who will restore dignity, competence and compassion to the Oval Office while restoring America’s moral leadership around the world,” Abrams said in a statement.

She added, “His commitment to fighting climate change, leading an economic recovery for all, and protecting every eligible American’s right to vote are among the many reasons why he must be the next President of the United States.”

Prior to Abrams’ official endorsement of Biden, she had been vocal about her willingness to be his running mate.

Last month, Abrams said she would make an “excellent” running mate for Biden and she would be “honored” to accept the position, as IJR previously reported.

Shortly thereafter, Abrams appeared on ABC’s “The View” to explain her reasoning behind being so vocal about her desire to be Biden’s running mate, as IJR previously reported.

She explained, “I think I would be very effective at helping us restore the dignity and the soul of not only America but helping those who have been left behind for so long finally see themselves as part of the solution.”

Earlier this month, Abrams doubled down on her comments and said she is “qualified and ready” to do the job.

Abrams came to Biden’s defense after he was accused of sexually assaulting Tara Reade, a former staffer while he was a senator.

She responded to the allegation, “I believe Joe Biden.”

Earlier this month, Biden publicly denied the allegation himself.

Abrams announced on Twitter she will be joining MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell and Biden for a discussion on Thursday.

“Looking forward to a special discussion with [Joe Biden] and [Lawrence O’ Donnell] on [Last Word] this Thursday evening,” Abrams wrote.

Abrams closed her statement on Biden pledging to do whatever it takes to help him win the election.

“I look forward to continuing my strong support for his candidacy and doing all I can to make sure he is elected this November,” Abrams said.
