St. Louis lawyer Mark McCloskey says he is running for Senate in Missouri in the 2022 elections.

In a tweet on Tuesday, McCloskey said, “An angry mob marched to destroy my home and kill my family, I took a stand to defend them. I am a proven fighter against the mob.”

“When the mob comes to destroy our home, our state, our nation— I’ll defend it,” he continued.

Finally, he added, “I will NEVER BACK DOWN.”

McCloskey revealed in April that he was considering running for Senate, as IJR reported.

In his announcement video, he vowed to protect the Second Amendment and decried “cancel culture” and “critical race theory.”

Mark McCloskey and his wife went viral last year after they were seen brandishing firearms at Black Lives Matter protesters who walked by his house.

During an appearance with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, McCloskey said he has been a long-time Republican and, “God came knocking on my door last summer disguised as an angry mob, and it really did wake me up.”

Some of McCloskey’s opponents include former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens (R) and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt (R) in a bid to fill Sen. Roy Blunt’s (R-Mo.) seat.
