While House Democrats had a bad night, the young superstar women of the party — the so-called “Squad” — coasted to reelection.

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) all faced easy races in solidly-Democratic districts. On Wednesday morning, Omar tweeted photos of the four with the caption, “Our sisterhood is resilient.”

Justice Democrats, the group that helped launch Ocasio-Cortez’s career, also celebrated the victories on Tuesday night, writing, “The squad is big.”

In a press release on Tuesday night, Justice Democrats Executive Director Alexandra Rojas boasted, “The Squad is continuing to grow and it will hold the next administration accountable to a bold governing agenda.“

She added, “The Congress Joe Biden could likely be inheriting is far more progressive than the one Barack Obama inherited in 2009 and can help make the Biden administration the most progressive administration in generations.”

Next year’s Congress will also include Justice Democrats’ candidate Cori Bush from Missouri. She is the first African-American woman to go to Congress from the state.

Other victories for the group included Jamaal Bowman in New York and Marie Newman in Illinois — however, all of those seats were already held by Democrats.

In Florida, President Donald Trump carried the state with a better-than-expected turnout among Latino voters.

Ocasio-Cortez remarked, “I won’t comment much on tonight’s results as they are evolving and ongoing, but I will say we’ve been sounding the alarm about Democrats’ vulnerabilities with Latinos for a long, long time. There is a strategy and a path, but the necessary effort simply hasn’t been put in.”

Democratic nominee Joe Biden has said that he expects to add Ocasio-Cortez to one of his policy panels if he is elected.
