Insiders at CNN are sharing why they are frustrated with the network over its ongoing support of host Don Lemon.

A media insider said to Fox News, “Well before the Variety article appeared, it’s been one of the biggest mysteries in TV news why CNN keeps Don Lemon around. He rates poorly, he is a source of constant embarrassment and his new morning show is an unqualified disaster.”

The insider continued, “Now his long history of degrading women has been laid bare. What mysterious hold does he have over his bosses that explains his longevity?”

CNN employees are also questioning why Lemon is still receiving support.

“There are plenty of people just as talented and popular with viewers that are not such a heavy lift,” a CNN insider explained to the outlet.

Fox News asked another insider if Lemon is worth all of the negative attention.

“I’m honestly not sure,” the insider responded, adding, it is “no secret” he has done “moronic things.”

Colleagues of Lemon even commented on the apology he attempted to give during a call after suggesting Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley was past her “prime.”

A CNN insider previously told the outlet, “Most pathetic attempt at an apology I have ever heard in my life.”

They added, “It did not go over well… f—–g a–hole.”

DePauw University journalism professor Jeffrey McCall explained to Fox News it is never a good sign for a network when one of their own is making headlines.

“That’s been the case for CNN now for some time with regards to Don Lemon and the trend doesn’t have any sign of letting up,” McCall said.

He added, “It’s hard to know how accurate the Variety report really is, but that an industry trade publication took on Don Lemon as a subject is news in itself.”

The comments come after Variety published a scathing article detailing Lemon’s unsettling behavior, as IJR reported.

The article notes how at one point during Lemon’s career, he began openly dating a staffer that had just graduated college despite the 19-year age difference.

Variety noted dating a junior employee was not looked highly upon at the time of their relationship.

“As fast as you could make a rule, Don would bend it,” one senior executive said.

Additionally, Lemon allegedly called one of his producers fat to her face, per the report from Variety.

Broadcaster Soledad O’Brien said, “Don has long had a habit of saying idiotic and inaccurate things, so it sounds pretty on brand for him.”
