“All My Children” soap opera star Susan Lucci will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Lucci, 76, who played the character Erica Kane from 1977 until the series’ final season in 2011, gave a statement via Variety following the announcement from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) on Friday. The NATAS administers the Daytime Emmys.

“I am truly humbled to receive this esteemed award from the Academy,” Lucci shared. “Throughout my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside exceptional talents and embraced by my fans that have been with me every step of the way.”

She added, “This honor is not just a reflection of my journey, but a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the profound connection we are so lucky to forge with audiences all over the world through television.”

Lucci will receive the award from “The Young and the Restless” actor Shemar Moore during the ceremony on Dec. 15 on CBS.

In a statement, NATAS President/CEO Adam Sharp praised Lucci for her achievements. “Maury” talk show host Maury Povich will also receive the award.

“We are thrilled to be recognizing two icons with Lifetime Achievement honors, Susan Lucci and Maury Povich. Both of them have had astonishing success and deep impact in the world of daytime television, Susan in drama series and Maury in talk, and have left their indelible marks on the industry,” Sharp said.

Furthermore, he said, “We look forward to celebrating their achievements and to also recognize the Gold and Silver Circle honorees when our celebrations are rescheduled.”

In 1999, Lucci won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, according to People. She received that award from Moore.

In 1978, she received her first Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She would ultimately be nominated 21 times.
