Former Trump attorney Sidney Powell briefly fled an interview after a reporter pressed her about claims she made against an election technology company.

Both Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic have filed defamation lawsuits against Powell for her part in spreading baseless claims about the companies, as Business Insider reports.

During an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for the series “Fox and the Big Lie,” reporter Sarah Ferguson asked Powell, “In how many states were Smartmatic machines and software used in the 2020 election?”

She replied, “I don’t even know the exact numbers.”

Ferguson suggested Powell would have to know the involvement Smartmatic had in the election given her claims.

The reporter noted, “A Google search would have shown you that Smartmatic was operating in one single county in California.”

Powell responded, “I think they’re involvement’s probably a lot bigger than that.”

When challenged on the evidence she has to back up her claims, Powell asked Ferguson, “Do you work for Smartmatic?”

Ferguson told Powell, “You’ve made an allegation against Smartmatic, that they stole a presidential election. I think it’s incumbent on both of us to know what Smartmatic’s involvement was.”

The attorney continued to argue that Smartmatic’s involvement was more significant. Ferguson then pressed Powell on her claim that Smartmatic owns Dominion.

“I’m gonna stop this interview,” Powell said. She proceeded to walk away, adding, “We’re done.”

After discussions with Powell, she agreed to return to the interview.

Ferguson went on to ask her, “Are you saying that thousands of Americans participated in a fraud?”

Powell explained, “I am saying that thousands of Americans had some role in it, knowingly, or unknowingly. It was essentially a bloodless coup where they took over the presidency of the United States without a single shot being fired.”

She was then asked, “Do you ever hear yourself and think it sounds ridiculous?” Powell fired back, “No, I know myself very well. I’ve been in me a long time. I know my reputation.”

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, My Pillow founder Mike Lindell, and Powell attempted to block Dominion lawsuits but U.S. District Court Judge Carl Nichols said they could move forward earlier this month.
