On Tuesday night, Grassley tweeted, “I’ve tested positive for coronavirus. I’ll [be] following my doctors’ orders/CDC guidelines & continue to quarantine.”

In a statement earlier in the day, Grassley announced that he would quarantine after learning that he had been “exposed to the coronavirus.”

“I will follow my doctors’ orders and immediately quarantine as I await my test results,” he continued in the statement.

He added, “I’m feeling well and not currently experiencing any symptoms, but it’s important we all follow public health guidelines to keep each other healthy.”

Grassley, who has never missed a vote since 1993, is also the Senate president pro tempore.

Since the outbreak of the virus in the U.S., six senators have tested positive for the virus. Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) have tested positive for the virus.
