Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) shared a laugh over the thought of talking about former President Donald Trump while eating lunch.

During an interview at a restaurant, CNN reporter Jamie Gangel began by saying to Pelosi, “You’re stepping aside.”

She asked, “Do you think President Biden should step aside for a younger generation?”

Pelosi replied, “I think President Biden has done an excellent job as president of the United States. I hope that he does seek reelection. He’s been a great president.”

Schumer added, “Look at what he’s accomplished. He’s done an excellent, excellent job and if he runs, I’m gonna support him all the way.”

When asked about what it would mean if Trump was reelected president, Schumer replied, “I don’t think it’ll happen. The American people have gotten wise to him. It took a little while, but they did.”

Pelosi then joked, “I don’t think that we should talk about him while we’re eating.”

After Schumer laughed, Pelosi said, “Really? Another Trump presidency?”

The reporter noted Pelosi called Trump “insane.”

The House speaker said, “I think there’s a need for an intervention there by his family or somebody. I don’t think he’s on the level, no.”

A CNN Poll conducted by SSRS found 6 in 10 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents believe their party should nominate someone other than Trump for the 2024 election.

The poll was conducted from Dec. 1 to 7 among a random national sample of 1,208 adults.

Trump made headlines on Thursday after being mocked for making a “major announcement,” as IJR reported.

The announcement turned out to be the release of a line of digital training cards.

Biden appeared to mock Trump in a tweet.

“I had some MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS the last couple of weeks, too…” he tweeted.

The president continued, “Inflation’s easing, I just signed the Respect for Marriage Act, We brought Brittney Griner home, Gas prices are lower than a year ago, 10,000 new high-paying jobs in Arizona.”
