Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is suggesting President Donald Trump has failed to properly implement the first four coronavirus relief packages passed by Congress.

Schumer claims a mix of Trump’s ego and lack of qualified personnel is to blame for his failure to implement the packages.

“This administration has been an abject failure at implementing most of these laws,” Schumer said. “They don’t have the qualified personnel, they don’t have the focus. All too often it seems the president’s ego is at stake.”

Check out his comments below:

Schumer went on to announce he and his fellow Senate Democrats are going to send a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to request oversight hearings over the four coronavirus relief packages.

“Haul in Dr. Birx, Dr. Fauci, Azar, and say why isn’t testing working?” Schumer said.

Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci are senior health advisers to Trump.

Alex Azar is secretary of Health and Human Services.

Schumer alleged Trump’s new coronavirus testing plan has “almost no details” in regards to how it is going to work.

He asked, “Why don’t we need a national regime to make sure that the manufacturing and supply chains work?”

Schumer initially criticized Trump’s new coronavirus guidelines and claimed the one thing missing is testing.

Schumer’s comments come just a week after Congress and the White House agreed on another nearly $500 Billion coronavirus relief package, as IJR previously reported.

The bill includes $25 billion for a national testing plan.

Other lawmakers have considered creating oversight committees, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), as IJR previously reported.

Schiff is working on a bill to establish a nonpartisan commission to review how the United States responded to the pandemic. The commission would take form after the nation has recovered from the outbreak.
