House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is blasting Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) after he shared a manipulated video that depicted him attacking President Joe Biden and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” Tuesday, Schiff said, “First of all, he has no business being in Congress. He should have never been elected. He doesn’t belong there.”

He continued, “And sadly, the Republican conference is now characterized by numerous kooks and dangerous cranks of which he is one. And when you consider where the leadership of that conference is, they’re talking today about removing from committees Republicans who voted for a bipartisan infrastructure bill…And why is that such an offense? Because it contradicts their strategy of making Joe Biden a failure.”

Gosar shared the controversial video on Monday night, as IJR reported.

He tweeted, “Any anime fans out there?”

The video depicts Gosar attacking Ocasio-Cortez and running toward Biden with swords.

Schiff’s comments appeared to reference a report from Punchbowl News that indicated several House Republicans are looking to punish the 13 members of their caucus who voted for the roughly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill.

“The GOP leadership is bracing for rank-and-file lawmakers to attempt to strip committee assignments from the 13 Republican lawmakers who voted for the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill. Several of these lawmakers are also ranking members — top Republicans on committees — and those could be at risk, too,” the outlet reported.

It added, “A number of GOP lawmakers were upset by the fact that several of their Republican colleagues voted early for the infrastructure package, helping Democrats cross the majority threshold on a key piece of President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda and undermining their party strategy.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) labeled the 13 Republicans “socialism makers” and called for them to be stripped of their committee assignments.

In May, House Republicans voted to strip Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) of her leadership role after she repeatedly criticized former President Donald Trump, as IJR reported.
