Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden is racking up his endorsements.

After weeks of the Democratic presidential primary being frozen in place, the race essentially wrapped last week when Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced he was suspending his campaign.

Since then, Biden has seen three days of high profile endorsements. Sanders endorsed Biden on Monday, followed by former President Barack Obama on Tuesday, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Wednesday, as IJR reported.

Now, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is throwing his support behind Biden.

“As we face a global pandemic with increasingly severe economic and public health implications, it is more important than ever that we have a President who places the interests of the American people first and knows how to lead,” Schiff said in a statement on Wednesday.

He continued, “Someone with experience, great competence, and compassion. Someone who will bring together the best minds and apply the best science. Someone like Joe Biden.”

Schiff has been highly critical of President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak. In a recent interview with Mother Jones, he said the Intelligence Committee was investigating Trump’s response to early intelligence reports on the virus, as IJR has previously reported.

Schiff proceeded to praise Biden’s experience and his ability to “inspire the best in all of us.”

“I’ve known Joe for over two decades. He knows how to tackle big problems, how to unite people, and inspire the best in all of us. He is ethical and compassionate, hard working, and methodical. And he has exactly the right experience to help America and the rest of the world overcome this pandemic and lead us to prosperity.”

“Joe Biden is uniquely qualified to step into the Presidency and lead us out of this crisis and to a promising future,” Schiff said, adding, “We need Joe in the White House, and I will be doing all I can to make sure he is successful.”

Schiff’s endorsement comes as Sanders encouraged Democrats to support Biden as the nominee.

After speaking about his former campaign spokesperson’s opposition to Biden, Sanders said, “I believe that it’s irresponsible for anybody to say, ‘Well, I disagree with Joe Biden — I disagree with Joe Biden! — and therefore I’m not going to be involved.'”
