President Donald Trump is receiving backlash from a political commentator after making comments about Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).

On Wednesday’s MSNBC “Morning Joe” show, Joe Scarborough took some time to address Trump’s remarks surrounding Romney’s coronavirus test results.

Scarborough read Trump’s tweet.

“This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak. He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!”

Romney released his own statement in response to testing negative for the coronavirus, as IJR reported.

In between reading the tweet, Scarborough pointed out that it was “sarcasm of course.”

Mika Brzezinski, co-host and Scarborough’s wife, asked Scarborough if he questions Trump’s stability.

“Well, of course, Mika, we do every day,” Scarborough said.

Watch his comments below:

Scarborough explained how Romney is at a higher risk of contracting the coronavirus due to his age.

“This could’ve been a death sentence for him. His wife has underlying conditions,” Scarborough said, adding, “If he were positive, it could’ve been a death sentence for her.”

Scarborough then proceeded to explain how Trump continues to attack lawmakers despite being in the middle of this crisis.

“Donald Trump cannot, even in these times, refrain from attacking somebody who is part of the United States Senate,” Scarborough said, adding, “We’re all in this together, the president said, and I agree with him.”

Scarborough suggested Trump should be focused on explaining to the American people how he is getting more resources out to those who need them.

He closed the program by saying if anyone else tweeted something like this they would be considered unfit.

“If any American put out a tweet like that, with this type of crisis weighing down on them, they would be considered to be unfit,” Scarborough said.
