Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is offering her opinion on why previous employees of President Donald Trump are speaking out against him.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos noted former U.S. national security advisor John Bolton, the president’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis have all been “critical” of Trump.

Stephanopoulos asked Sanders if she could explain why those former officials have a different view of the president from the one she has.

“Well, I think it’s really simple. I think mine is actually the honest account. You’re looking at people who have left as disgruntled employees, people who tried to push their own agenda,” Sanders said.

Stephanopoulos pressed Sanders on why those former officials have a different account of their time with Trump than hers.

Sanders stressed it was the American people who voted for Trump’s “agenda,” not the “agenda” of his former employees.

She explained they had a “very different agenda” than Trump, and there is going to be “friction when those moments happen.”

Stephanopoulos argued they were chosen by Trump for those positions.

“Certainly having a difference of opinion is not a bad thing and I think that’s one of the reasons the president has been successful,” Sanders said.

She continued, “He’s willing to listen to those people, but at the end of the day it’s his decision to make and I think he’s done a fantastic job doing that.”

Sanders said she believes her side of the story is “very candid” and “very authentic.”

The release of her book “Speaking for Myself: Faith, Freedom, and the Fight of Our Lives Inside the Trump White House,” comes amid the release of Cohen’s book. In “Disloyal: A Memoir,” Cohen accuses the president of making racist and sexist comments regularly, as IJR previously reported.
