Sarah Huckabee Sanders Pressed On Whether She Will Endorse Trump for President

Outgoing White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders speaks alongside US President Donald Trump during a second chance hiring and criminal justice reform event in the East Room of the White House in Washington, DC, June 13, 2019. - President Donald Trump on Thursday made the surprise announcement of the departure of spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, who has been widely criticized for her performance in the White House. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) was asked whether she will support former President Donald Trump in his 2024 presidential run.

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” host Shannon Bream said, “Your bio, on your official page as governor, describes you as a ‘trusted confidant of President Trump.'”

She asked Sanders, “Have you talked to him about his ’24 run? Will you endorse him in that?”

The governor replied, “I love the president, have a great relationship with him.”

She explained, “I know our country would be infinitely better off if he was in office right now instead of Joe Biden. But right now, my focus isn’t 2024. It’s focusing here in Arkansas and doing what we can to empower the people of this state, and make sure that I’m delivering on the promises that I laid out over the course of the last two years.”

When asked what kind of timeline she has for making a decision on an endorsement for 2024, Sanders said, “My focus isn’t on 2024.”

She continued, “It’s on what we can deliver in this legislative session. I’m not going to set an arbitrary timeline. I’m not really focused on that at all.”

Additionally, Bream asked Sanders if she is already feeling the pressure of speculation surrounding her career in politics.

“I feel the pressure of delivering this legislative session. That’s the only thing that our team, and that I am focused on, is delivering on what we laid out to do,” Sanders responded.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung recently told CNN Trump is attempting to create a campaign that lasts through “the next 22 months.”

The campaign will reportedly be announcing upcoming political events in the coming weeks, as the outlet reported.

“This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon,” Cheung said.
