Ousted Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) isn’t through with politics yet.

On Thursday, Santos posted to X, formerly Twitter, his intention to unseat Rep. Nick LaLota (R-N.Y.) and represent the 1st District, Newsmax reported.

“Tonight, I want to announce that I will be returning to the arena of politics and challenging Nick for the battle over #NY1. I look forward to debating him on the issues and on his weak record as a Republican. The fight for our majority is imperative for the survival of the country,” he posted.

Santos was thrown out of Congress in December. Democrat Tom Suozzi was elected to represent people in New York’s 3rd Congressional District.

“New York hasn’t had a real conservative represent them since I left office arbitrarily, thanks to RINO, empty suits like @nicklalota. He is a willing to risk the future of our majority and the future of this country for his own political gain,” Santos posted on X.

Santos attended the State of the Union Thursday night. The expelled congressman was able to attend because he retained his privileges to access the House floor, per Newsmax

A plea deal is currently in the works between Santos and federal prosecutors.

Santos faces 23 felony charges, including two counts of wire fraud and two counts of aggravated theft. Per Newsmax, he is “accused of stealing donors’ identities and charging thousands of dollars in fraudulent transactions on their credit cards.”

“He’s also accused of lying to Congress about his wealth, receiving unemployment benefits while employed, and using campaign contributions to pay for personal expenses like designer clothing,” according to Newsmax.

Santos was expelled from Congress in a 311-114 vote after a House Ethics Committee report found “overwhelming evidence” that Santos had broken the law and exploited his public position for his own profit.

Many took to X to express their opinions on Santos’ announcement.

You will have a lot of time to think about it in jail

When are you planning on pleading guilty or going to trial? You should worry about taking accountability that first. That and good luck on donors. 👍🏻

Santos's allegiance lies with special interests and party politics, not with the constituents he claims to represent. It's time to elect someone who will truly fight for the people, not for their own political gain.

George Santos calling out someone for lies?? He wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him in the face!!!
