Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is placing blame on President Donald Trump for the number of coronavirus deaths across the nation.

“I think his inaction has cost the lives of many, many Americans,” Sanders said.

Sanders was asked for his opinion on what he thought of Trump initially downplaying the immensity of the coronavirus.

“The fact that he downplayed the nature of this pandemic from the very beginning. ‘Don’t worry, it’s all going to be over by April, we only have a few cases,'” he said. “Instead of rallying the American people, instead of rallying the scientific community, instead of educating the American people.”

Sanders did not hold back from explaining how dangerous Trump is for the country.

“I would hope that everybody in America understands that I believe that he is the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country,” the Vermont senator said.

Sanders is not the only 2020 presidential hopeful to criticize Trump for his coronavirus response. Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) also slammed Trump, accusing him of misleading Americans, as IJR previously reported.

“So, the things he says don’t seem to comport with what everybody else knows. And I wish he’d listen more to the scientists and think less about the political consequences,” Biden said.

Trump provided a very dismal outlook for the next few weeks as cases of the coronavirus accelerate, as IJR previously reported. He said on Tuesday that the next two weeks are going to be “very, very painful.”

According to experts, it is projected between 100,000 to 240,000 could die from the coronavirus.
