Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is predicting President Donald Trump will make history by refusing to concede the election.
CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Sanders during his appearance on “State of the Union” how worried he is Trump would try to stay in office beyond Jan. 20 and what level of threat his refusal to concede poses to the nation.
“I am less and less worried about it because as more and more victories state by state are confirmed for Biden, I think public support in any way shape or form for the president is now going down,” Sanders said.
He added, “Trump will have the distinction of doing more than any person in the history of this country in undermining American democracy.”
Sanders called Trump’s efforts to tell his supporters the only reason he may have lost the election was because of fraud “absolutely disgraceful and un-American.”

He argued Trump’s claim President-elect Joe Biden “illegally” won the election is “beyond belief in terms of behavior for an American president.”
The president doubled down on his refusal to concede on Sunday, as IJR previously reported.
He issued a tweet earlier in the day suggesting he accepted the election results.
“[Biden] won because the Election was Rigged. NO VOTE WATCHERS OR OBSERVERS allowed, vote tabulated by a Radical Left privately owned company, Dominion, with a bad reputation & bum equipment that couldn’t even qualify for Texas (which I won by a lot!), the Fake & Silent Media, & more!” Trump tweeted.
He later clarified, “[Biden] only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA. I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!”
Earlier this week, Biden called Trump’s failure to accept the election results “an embarrassment” and suggested, “It will not help the president’s legacy.”
