The children of late actor Robin Williams honored him on the 8th anniversary of his death.

On Thursday, Zelda Williams, the Academy Award winner’s daughter, posted a quote on her Twitter by writer Haruki Murakami that read, “And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.”

She then followed the quote up with a thread on various resources for suicide prevention.

“A thread of suicide prevention resources I have mostly posted before. Please add any others you know of that may be helpful to others below too, so they can find them. I don’t ask for much, but if I may, be gentle to your hearts today. I know I’m trying. X,” she wrote in the caption.

Zak Williams, posted a photo of his father on his Twitter with the caption, “Dad, on the eighth anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering how incredibly kind and joyful you were. I deeply miss you you wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating your life today. Love you so so much!”

Robin Williams died in 2014 at 63 years old by suicide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Since then his son has been an advocate for mental health and works with a nonprofit organization called Inseparable to ensure that mental health care is accessible for Americans.

In 2020, Zak Williams, an Inseparable board advisor, spoke to Today about the organization’s mission, “Part of Inseparable’s mandate is to enable expanded access for all Americans to have high quality care and when it comes to mental health support in this day and age, most Americans don’t have access to that care.”

“Expanded access to support all people is essential, especially at a time when we’re in the most need,” he said. “And we need to take measures to ensure that people get the appropriate support they need, whether it involves prevention, support for chronic conditions or expanded support and services for intervention-oriented situations.”
