Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines slammed White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over her response on biological men competing against women in sports.

On Tuesday, Gaines, 23, addressed Jean-Pierre’s response during a White House press briefing claiming the gender issue is “complicated” after a journalist asked her if President Joe Biden believes it’s “fair for girls to have to compete against biological males?”

“‘Well, we do know we won’t stand for trans kids to be told they can’t play where they want, but we don’t know if we care about women, therefore this issue is complicated.’ This is quite literally the least complicated issue,” Gaines wrote.

She added, “Males compete with males. Females compete with females.”

Furthermore, she clarified, “No one is being told they can’t play sports.”

“No one is being told they can’t transition,” she wrote.

Gaines stated she believes biological men should “just compete where is (sic) safe & fair.”

“Again, not complicated,” she concluded.

During Tuesday’s press briefing, Jean-Pierre responded to the question concerning biological men competing in women’s sports, saying it “Is truly a complicated issue with a wide range of views” and “There is no yes or no answer to this…”

“We want to make sure that while we establish guardrails with this rule, that we also prevent discrimination as well against transgender kids. But again, a complicated issue with a wide range of views and we respect that,” she added.

In April, the Biden Administration released a proposed rule which would prevent an outright ban on transgender athletes competing in schools and universities across the U.S., per the U.S. Department of Education.

“The proposed rule would establish that policies violate Title IX when they categorically ban transgender students from participating on sports teams consistent with their gender identity just because of who they are,” the release states.
