Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) criticized former President Donald Trump for participating in “cancel culture.”

In a series of tweets posted Tuesday, Hogan mentioned the names of three lawmakers who voted to pass the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

“Trump cancel culture needs to end. Strong candidates like [Don J Bacon], [Rep. John Katko], and [Brian Fitzpatrick] helped close the gap in Congress by winning Biden/Hillary districts while Trump lost the White House,” Hogan tweeted.

He continued, “This kind of purging and silencing of dissent in service to The Dear Leader is what happens in socialist dictatorships and authoritarian regimes—not in America.”

Hogan went on to say he was “proud to support common sense conservatives who won tough races in 2020.”

He argued, “Republicans would have taken back the House and won the Senate without Trump and his losing record weighing us down. We need more – not less – of these candidates winning in 2022.”

The governor added, “If we attack candidates who can win, we lose. It appears Trump would rather bring down the Republican Party with him than see the party succeed without him. If we let him, then we deserve the result.”

Trump released a statement blasting Republicans for supporting the bill.

“Very sad that the RINOs in the House and Senate gave Biden and Democrats a victory on the ‘Non-Infrastructure’ Bill,” Trump said. “All Republicans who voted for Democrat longevity should be ashamed of themselves, in particular Mitch McConnell, for granting a two month stay which allowed the Democrats time to work things out at our Country’s, and the Republican Party’s, expense!”

Earlier this month, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) revealed he received a threatening voicemail over his support for the bill, as IJR reported.

“F****ing traitor. That’s what you are. You’re a f***ing piece of s**t traitor. I hope you die. I hope everybody in your f***ing family dies. You f***ing piece of s**t trash mother****er,” the individual said on the message.

Upton explained, “We have seen civility really downslide here. I’m concerned about my staff. They are taking these calls.”
