White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked why President Joe Biden did not commemorate the 77th anniversary of D-Day.

During a press briefing on Monday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked, “Presidents Bush, Obama, and Trump all commemorated D-Day anniversaries on the D-Day anniversary. Why didn’t President Biden?”

She responded, “Well, I can tell you that certainly, his value for the role the men who served on D-Day, and the memory of them, the families who have kept their memories alive over the course of years on this day is something the president has spoke to many times in the past. It’s close to his heart.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more we would have to say about it,” she added.

June 6 was the 77th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces invaded northern France in World War II.

However, conservatives noted that Biden did not issue a tweet commemorating the military operation from his @POTUS, @JoeBiden, or the @WhiteHouse account.

As the number of WWII vets who remain with us continues to dwindle, it becomes more important, not less, to remember them & their heroic deeds, including their bravery & sacrifice on the beaches of Normandy. Huge unforced error by Biden not to commemorate D-Day over the weekend.

President Biden never mentioned D-Day yesterday. https://t.co/oae8dPpHI4

I’m FURIOUS that Biden couldn’t be bothered to say ANYTHING to recognize the bravery of those who fought at Normandy 77 years ago. His “Hate America Agenda” is so strong, he wants us to FORGET about our war heroes. WE WILL NEVER FORGET THEIR BRAVERY! https://t.co/lNx9S4H3nE

While Biden did not tweet about D-Day, First Lady Jill Biden tweeted on Sunday, “77 years ago, families gathered around radios and heard FDR pray for a ‘peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.’ Let us never forget those who fought, their families, or sacrifices, and let us always pray for peace.”

And Vice President Kamala Harris wrote, “On the 77th anniversary of #DDay, we honor the heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy and liberated a continent. We will never forget their courage and sacrifice.”

Harris recently came under fire for tweeting a picture of herself with the caption, “Enjoy the long weekend” before Memorial Day.

Critics noted her initial tweet did not mention service members.

She later tweeted, “Throughout our history our service men and women have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country. As we prepare to honor them on Memorial Day, we remember their service and their sacrifice.”
