When Princess Kate Middleton had abdominal surgery in January, royal officials said she would return to public life by Easter.

However, after some speculation regarding her whereabouts, Kensington Palace reiterated that statement Thursday, Peoplereported.

“We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant,” according to the statement.

Princess Kate, 42, had abdominal surgery Jan. 17. The reason for the surgery was not disclosed.

After the surgery, Kensington Palace said it was Princess Kate’s “wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

The outlet reported, “The palace added that they would ‘only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.’”

She’s been convalescing at home in Windsor. When their three children were on a school break, she traveled to Anmer Hall, their home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, in February.

This newest statement comes on the heels of Prince William’s withdrawal from speaking at a service in honor of his godfather,  King Constantine II of Greece, Tuesday. The reason for his canceling that appearance is not known.

At that time, a palace source said the princess “continues to be doing well,” People reported.

He was back to his royal duties Thursday with a visit to the Western Marble Arch Synagogue in London, People reported, adding he accepted a bouquet of flowers on his wife’s behalf.

Princess Kate’s health issues have coincided with King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

While he has refrained from public duties, the king has been seen going to church.
